18 มีนาคม 2566 นายกำพล สายลาด นายกองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลห้วยขะยุง พร้อมด้วย ผู้ช่วยบริหาร พนักงานส่วนตำบลองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลห้วยขะยุง ร่วมงานเนื่องในวันท้องถิ่นไทยประจำปี 2566 โดยมีผู้บริหารองค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่น ข้าราชการ พนักงานส่วนตำบล จังหวัดอุบลราชธานี ร่วมพิธีวางพานพุ่มดอกไม้สด ณ ศาลากลางจังหวัดอุบลราชธานี (หลังเก่า) และกิจกรรมปลูกต้นไม้ผล“ทางนี้มีผล ผู้คนฮักกัน”รอบศาลากลางจังหวัดอุบลราชธานี (หลังใหม่) เพื่อสำนึกในพระมหากรุณาธิคุณพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ 5 ที่ทรงมีพระบรมราชโองการให้ยกฐานะตำบลท่าฉลอม ขึ้นเป็นสุขาภิบาลท่าฉลอม ถือเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของการกระจายอำนาจการปกครองให้แก่ประชาชน และเป็นการถือกำเนิดของการปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นครั้งแรกของประเทศไทย รวมทั้งเพื่อให้ข้าราชการ และบุคลากรองค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นในจังหวัดอุบลราชธานี ได้ตระหนักถึงหน้าที่ความรับผิดชอบ ภาระที่ตนมีต่อประชาชน ต่อสังคมประเทศชาติ ได้น้อมรำลึกถึงพระมหากรุณาธิคุณดังกล่าว อันเป็นรากฐานนำไปสู่การพัฒนารูปแบบการกระจายอำนาจการปกครองท้องถิ่นในจนถึงปัจจุบัน
